{David and Taelor} Wedding - Pismo Beach, CA

David and Taelor's Pismo Beach wedding at the Thousand Hills Ranch was such an amazing summer wedding. It was such a pleasure to be asked to be their wedding photographer. Looking back at this July wedding, I am reminded of what a privilege it is to be a wedding photographer. This day was filled with love, joy, and an abundance of San Luis Obispo County sunshine. Wedding photography really is my dream job.

Taelor and David’s Thousand Hills Ranch Wedding

Taelor and David have such an amazing love story. Taelor is a teacher, so it’s clear that she has a very loving, patient heart. But while she and David were dating, he went through some significant health issues. Taelor was steadfast and secure in her love, standing by his side. And on their wedding day, that continued love and commitment was visible in every smile.

My second shooter, Marc and I headed out to the foothills behind Pismo Beach to the Thousand Hills Ranch to celebrate the wedding of David and Taelor.  I started out the day with Taelor and her bridesmaids. They each had their own personalized Starbucks coffee order to get them off on the right foot! It was all smiles and laughter as the ladies prepared for the day ahead. Once she was ready, Taelor and her father shared a sentimental daddy-daughter first look. I tell you, when a father sees his little girl all grown up and ready to walk down the aisle, it’s a powerful moment. I was happy to be there to capture it. The daddy daughter first look was very sweet.

So much of this sunny, California wedding was infused with personalized details from the bride and groom. When it was time for their ceremony at the Thousand Hills Ranch, Taelor had the most amazing entrance. Her father drove her down to the outdoor ceremony site in a bright red classic Mustang! The Mustang had a lot of history and importance, too. Taelor learned to drive in that car! Her father bought it when her sisters were in high school and lovingly restored it. When she drove it for the first time, at fifteen, she almost ran right into the side of a parked RV! I loved that she had such a meaningful piece of her life in the ceremony. Plus, it looked great with the bright red bridesmaids’ gowns!

After the ceremony, the light was amazing. I stole the bride and groom for some wedding portraits on the roads of the ranch. The warm California sunshine filtered through the giant oak trees, lighting the happy couple up in warm, golden light. It was amazing! I love summer weddings.

The personal details of this Thousand Hills Ranch wedding continued as the reception kicked off! As a young girl, the bride’s favorite TV show was COPS. Her love for the show ran so deeply, that when she was younger she planned out her whole wedding with a COPS theme! She was going to have the bridesmaids wear red dresses (which they did), the guys were going to carry shot guns, and she would walk down the aisle to the COPS theme song, “Bad Boys!” While not all of those details transpired, her father shared in his speech how that was always the plan… and then he and the bridal party surprised everyone with a dance to her song, complete with fake guns! It was hilarious. And later, her dad held a fake gun to the back of David’s head when he took off the bride’s garter belt. Everyone had a good laugh.

Taelor, David, I so enjoyed looking through your wedding photography and remembering all of the wonderful memories of your wedding day. Thank you for inviting me into your life and into your wedding day. I wish you both continued love and happiness.
